British singer-songwriter Yungblud has opened up about the powerful influence of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne on his life and career, sharing how he honoured his hero during the Black Sabbath frontman’s final performance — just weeks before Ozzy’s passing.

Speaking at the premiere of his new film Are You Ready, Boy?, Yungblud — real name Dom Harrison — described the moment as one of the most important of his career. He performed a heartfelt cover of Osbourne’s 1972 ballad Changes at the “Back To The Beginning” reunion gig at Villa Park in Birmingham. The show marked Ozzy’s last-ever public appearance with Black Sabbath before his death less than three weeks later.

Yungblud’s version of Changes was later released as a single, with proceeds going to the same charities supported by the concert. After the performance, Ozzy personally gifted him a cross necklace, which Harrison now wears every day.

“Ozzy is everything to me, always has been,” Yungblud said. “To be able to go on stage and honour my hero without knowing these were his final days was everything to me. I’ll try my best to keep that spirit and that energy alive. I love that guy and his family, always.”

A Glimpse Behind the Curtain – Are You Ready, Boy?

The documentary Are You Ready, Boy?, released in cinemas on August 20 and 24, takes fans inside the making of Yungblud’s fourth studio album Idols, which topped the UK charts in June. Filmed at Berlin’s world-famous Hansa Studios — a creative landmark that has hosted the likes of David Bowie (Heroes) and U2 (Achtung Baby) — the project offers a raw, unpolished look at the artist’s process.

Harrison described the experience as the “most vulnerable” he has ever been on camera. The film shows him working without filters, rehearsing, recording live tracks, and dealing with the intense emotions that come with making music he describes as “life or death.”

“I love taking risks,” he said. “This is the most vulnerable I’ve ever been. It’s pretty uncomfortable for me to watch. I’ve seen it once, I’ll watch it tonight, and probably never again. But I didn’t want to make something safe. I wanted it to be raw and uncomfortable — because that’s the truth of it.”

The documentary was shot over a two-week period with no pre-planned script or storyline. Instead, Yungblud invited the crew to “just roll the cameras and see what happens,” aiming to show fans who he really is beyond quick Instagram clips and polished media appearances.

A Busy Year for Yungblud

Alongside the release of Are You Ready, Boy?, Yungblud has been expanding his creative footprint. He recently opened his own music venue and store in London, giving fans a place to connect with his music and community in person.

He is also preparing for a world tour and the third edition of his own music festival, Bludfest, set for 2026. First launched in 2024, the festival was created as a response to rising ticket prices and a music industry that Harrison felt was becoming inaccessible to fans.

“It made me sick, the price of tickets,” he said. “A lot of promoters didn’t take me seriously. But we proved it could be done differently. Bludfest is about keeping music accessible and making a statement. My community and fanbase are everything to me.”

A Tribute and a Legacy

For Yungblud, performing Changes for Ozzy Osbourne was more than a tribute — it was a moment of connection between two artists from different generations, bound by a shared love of music and performance.

Now, with Are You Ready, Boy?, Harrison is offering fans a similarly heartfelt experience: a chance to see the unfiltered reality behind his art. It’s a risky move in an industry often built on perfection — but for Yungblud, risk is the only way to stay real.

Are You Ready, Boy? will screen in select cinemas on August 20 and 24.
